Half the waste landfilled each year in Oregon comes from the commercial sector - about 1.3 million tons! Implementing waste prevention and reuse techniques will help preserve our natural resources and prevent pollution. This clearinghouse was created to provide the commercial sector with the tools needed to save capital rather than filling a dumpster with unused byproducts and preventable waste.

Mission Statement

The Commercial Waste Reduction Clearinghouse is a focal point for the distribution of timely, informative, and educational materials for the benefit of Oregon local governments, businesses, and waste haulers with the intent to educate the commercial sector consisting of:

offices, hotels and motels, restaurants, schools, hospitals, retail, construction and demolition and agricultural industries, and multifamily housing complexes;

in the areas of waste prevention, recycling, and composting. We hope the tools and information on our web site will help you create less waste by learning new ways to reduce consumption, prevent waste, purchase less environmentally damaging materials, and send fewer materials to the landfills.
